The Tribes of Israel surround the Tabernacle
The Camp surrounding the Tabernacle is an arrangement of the Tribal Camps of the People. To the east there are Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. To the South there are Reuben, Simeon and Gad. In the Center is the Tent of Meeting surrounded by the Levites. To the west there are Ephraim, Manassah and Benjamin. To the north there are Dan, Asher and Naphtali.
The Levites are responsible for serving and maintaining the Tabernacle. The Gershonites camp on the west and take care of the tabernacle and tent, curtain and ropes. The Kohathites camp on the south and take care of the arc, table, lampstand, altars, and the articles used for ministering in the sanctuary. The Merarites camp to the north and care for the frames, crossbars, posts, bases, tent pegs and ropes. Moses and Aaron camp to the east in front of the Tent of Meeting and care for the sanctuary.
